FAQ's

Q: I'm a new author (self published) and I don't have a web site; nor do I have the money to put into a web site, do you have any ideas?
A: As you may have noticed from the bullet points on our Home page, there are alternatives. We have a sister company responsible for "Cover Letter" style web sites. Here's a couple of "home page" examples they provide along with the ability to sell your book and download materials. They have a starter site for $60 - $70.

Q: How can you help a new author with book sales or promotions?
A: Most self-published authors rely solely on Amazon and the other major sales houses. Unfortunately, the only way a person will find your book is when you direct them to it at those sites. We at Banyon take a different position, we provide you with a location where you can still send your readers to buy, but at Banyon YOU make MORE money. Our visitor count is rising daily and our "search engine" recognition is growing as well. Call and we'll discuss a custom plan for your sales future.

Q: I don't want to get too deep into "internet" matters, how can I avoid becoming involved with managing a web site, yet still have a basic one to show my title(s)?
A: The "Cover Letter" style web site is designed to be a fixed information site with very changes made throughout its life (e.g., add new titles, update an offer or rate, redirect a link) and those changes are covered for a nominal charge made known to you when you begin (i.e., usually about $50 per year).

Q: Can you direct me to how I can enter my manuscript for copyright protection?
A: Effective June 7th, 2004, we have another company (www.ADRDomainsPlus.com) with a wonderful service called "C-Site" (found on the top menu bar at: "Copyright Protection") for only $69.95, which includes your filing fee and Express submission of your manuscript in .PDF format. We've checked various similar companies nationally and found this to be the best rate by at least $30 (i.e., with many at $149 to $700 for the identical service when done from a application mill or lawyer's office).

Q: What is the point of having multiple domain names?
A: Certainly it is not a requirement, especially when you have a good one, but we've found that the more you have pointing to your site the better. We have several pointing to this site, as well as all of the sites we own. Check out (...Search Engines) and (...MORE).

Q: Why are you reaching out to book clubs? Are you really offering them a page on this site?
A: The fact that we think they serve a very important literary purpose is our main reason. They select, read and review books, usually in a social setting, then often tell others about their recent find. Well, we want them to know that we support them...NO strings attached. We'd like for them to have a web page on Banyon's site where they can post their member's photos(s) and their book reviews...and we'll do that for them for FREE. They will not be expected to review a single book we publish or sell.

Q: Why are you reaching out to self-published authors (even those with books already for sale through other companies), book clubs (who may never read one of your 'authors') and even other small publishers (who sound like competition)? It seems dealing with them probably wouldn't make much money for your company, so why?
A: Well that's a long story, but I'll try to give a short version. We want this site to be a fun site...a place where authors find refuge from the mega companies who take most of their profits, even though the author is sending the buyer to them (READ our June 2004 Newsletter - The Banyon Buzz, i.e., Are Authors being marginalized? at: (www.thebanyonbuzz.biz/). Once you understand what we are about (and it's not unreasonable pricing) you'll, hopefully realize why we are optimistic about uniting small authors and even small publishers (i.e., we're not the only publisher with one author...who's sales are doing very well I might add..better than EVER I'm told).

Q: You sound somewhat altruistic rather than a 'bottom-line' business owner, is that good for business? What's your background?
A: Have NO fear, I indeed look at the 'bottom-line,' but I don't allow it to blind me from a vision. Perhaps you should read about me through a site I've established for inquiry at (www.jayjohnson.biz). You'll find that I have many interest to tide me over in business. More importantly is my sales and marketing background...THAT's where I'd like to contribute to authors. I'm convinced...if an author is sending their readers/buyers to a location to purchase then the author should make a better profit.
